Salt Lake City, Utah- No. 1 seed Salt Lake started the Region 18 Championship with a 9-0 win in six innings over No. 4 seed USU-Eastern.
The Bruins scored five runs in the bottom of the first off a couple of bunt singles and three walks. In the bottom of the fifth C Savannah Palmatier brought in LF Taitumn Reynen with an RBI groundout. Reynen and Palmatier both hit RBI singles in the bottom of the sixth to boost Salt Lake's lead.
LHP Brecka Larsen threw another complete game. Brecka struck out nine batters and allowed only two hits.
