Salt Lake men's basketball beats Eastern Arizona for West District Title

Edmonds leads Bruins into Hutch with 19 points

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (Saturday, March 16, 2024)— The No. 3 Salt Lake Community College Bruins head into Hutch with a head of steam after knocking off Region 1 champion Eastern Arizona 66-59 to clinch the West District Championship. 

Freshman forward Xavier Edmonds led three Bruins in double-figure scoring with 19 points and three steals. Redshirt sophomore guard Jordan Battle added 10 points and six rebounds, while redshirt freshman Zaon Collins scored 10 off the bench.

SLCC forced 20 Eastern Arizona turnovers, turning it into 25 points on the other end. Salt Lake's bench outscored EAC 31-1.

The third-ranked Bruins (29-3, 12-2) have won the SWAC regular-season title and the Region 18 championship, in addition to their West District trophy.
