RICHMOND-Virginia Top ranked Salt Lake Men's and Women's Cross Country both placed first in Nationals to become the 2024 National Champions.
The Salt Lake Women who won Nationals in 2023, handled the pressure throughout the season to successfully become back-to-back national champions. The Bruin Women posted 55 points as a team. Iowa Central Community College took second with 105 points.
"I'm thrilled with the outcomes today. Both teams (men and women) executed incredibly well and ran for each other," said head coach Isaac Wood.
Salt Lake Men Cross Country avenged their second place finish in last year's nationals and won their first national championship in program history. The Bruin Men won with 52 points. Iowa Western Community College took second with 85 points.
Salt Lake freshman JaQuavious Harris took first overall with a time of 23:30.7. "JQ's shoe fell off halfway through the race, stopped, put it back on and still won," said Wood.
Salt Lake Cross Country is only in its third year as a program and now has three national championships between the men and women sides in three years. Both teams were ranked No. 1 in the nation in the preseason poll and throughout the year.
