Top Ranked Salt Lake Men and Women Cross Country Pumped for Nationals

The Bruins Race for Glory at Nationals

RICHMOND, Virginia- The preseason polls for Men's and Women's Cross Country had one thing in common. Salt Lake Community College was ranked No. 1 in both.

Tomorrow at Pole Green Park in Richmond, Virginia both teams will compete for the National Championship. "When both your teams are ranked No. 1 going into the National Championship Race you're going to have a target on your back and a little more of the pressure. The athletes on our team wouldn't be here if they didn't want that kind of feeling," said Head Coach Isaac Wood

Last year the SLCC Women won the National Championship with 47 points. The SLCC Men took second, losing to Trinidad State. "The Men have had an edge to them this year. Having lost the national championship by seven points, they have had to think about that all year and are excited to compete for the team's first title this year," said wood. Salt Lake Cross Country is only in its third year in program history. SLCC Women's Cross Country

"I would go as far as saying that this has to be one of, if not, the most competitive years in NJCAA history. Lots of teams have quality talent and we're excited to see where our men can stack up with the rest of the country, said wood.

The Salt Lake Women will race on Saturday, November 9th at 4:30 (2:30 ET). The Men will follow and race at 5:30 (3:30 ET).
