SLCC Baseball places five players on ‘All-Region 18 First Team’ list

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (May 10, 2023) – A strong performance during the 2023 season led the Salt Lake Community College Baseball team to significant individual prestige in the Scenic West Athletic Conference's postseason awards.
 
After finishing the season as the No. 2 seed in this week's Region 18 tournament, the Bruins were recognized with five players making the All-Region 18 First Team list, with eight SLCC players earning honors from the league. Salt Lake also placed four players on the 'All-Region 18 Defensive Team list'. 
 
Southern Nevada had three players earn individual awards – Hunter Katschke (Player-of-the-Year); Nicky Garritano (Defensive Player-of-the-Year); and Carson Bonus (Relief Pitcher-of-the-Year). CSN skipper Nick Garritano also was named 'Region 18 Coach-of-the-Year). Southern Idaho pitcher Josh Trentadue was the Region 18 'Pitcher-of-the-Year'.
 
Salt Lake will play Southern Idaho in the opening round of the Region 18 tournament Wednesday at Southern Nevada's Morse Stadium.
