SALT LAKE CITY, Utah- Three SLCC Bruin baseball players and one Bruin softball player were named to the NJCAA Division 1 All-American Teams.
CF Luke Jacobs was named to the All-American Second Team. Jacobs was the SWAC Player of the Year and set seven program records in his sophomore season. Luke hit .395 this season and scored or brought in the game winning/tying run 24 times this year. Luke is transferring to the University of Utah to continue his playing career.
1B Jalen Seward also earned All-American Second Team honors. Seward led the Bruins hitting .418 and many of his stats rank in the top 5 in Bru Cru program history. Seward was healthy and clutch the entire season. Jalen was named the 2025 JUCO World Series MVP and was instrumental as the Bruins became the highest seed (No. 8) to become national champions. Seward will likely transfer to a Division 1 program, but has not committed yet.
Closer Darius Henderson was named to the All-American Third Team. The hard-throwing RHP out of the bullpen led the NJCAA with 12 saves. Three of those saves were in the JUCO World Series as Henderson delivered in the clutch. Darius recorded 40 strikeouts in 28.1 innings thrown and showcased a 1.58 ERA this year. Henderson finished his freshman season with a (4-0) record and consistently fooled batters in the regular season and postseason.
2B Ellie Pond was named a second Team All-American Infielder after her fabulous freshman season. Pond was named the SWAC Player of the Year and led the nation in on-base percentage (.602) and was top 10 in home runs (21) and walks (40). Pond also plated 61 runs and stole 28 bases for the Bruins. https://www.instagram.com/p/DKhw0pugcqt/
