Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 3, 2023) – The opening of Scenic West Athletic Conference play couldn't have gone any better for the Salt Lake Community College Softball team.

Playing their openers against USU Eastern in Colorado due to inclement weather in Price, the Bruins posted a split by winning the first game, 9-3, and losing the second game, 7-5, moving to 7-6 overall. SLCC has not played at home to-date this season.

Salt Lake and USU Eastern will play again Saturday.

Salt Lake 9, USU Eastern 3: SLCC scored early and often in the dominant win.

The Bruins took an early 3-2 lead after the second inning, then scored throughout to earn the win with nine hits.
Alyssa Mighell led Salt Lake with a 2-of-3 performance at the plate.
Lyndsey Madrigal went 1-of-3 with a home run and a pair of walks.

Tiffany Hermansen earned the pitching win, allowing three hits in a complete game.

USU Eastern 7, Salt Lake 5: A five-run inning proved to be the difference for the Eagles in the win.

SLCC held a 4-0 lead midway through the fourth inning, prior to USU Eastern scoring seven unanswered runs to take a lead it would never surrender.
