Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 18, 2023) – The Salt Lake Community College Softball program had a mixed outing in a preseason tournament Saturday.
SLCC split a doubleheader by Grayson Community College, falling 5-4 and then winning 12-7 in the games. The Bruins are now 6-3 overall after the wins, including a mark of 1-3 in the preseason tournament in Texas.
Salt Lake will conclude the weekend's play on Sunday, playing McLennan Community College in a pair of games.
Grayson 5, Salt Lake 4: SLCC started fast but Grayson came around for the late win.
The Bruins had home runs by
Lyndsey Madrigal and
Bailey Marvin both hit home runs in the game, with SLCC tying the game at 4-4 in the third inning. Unfortunately, Grayson scored a late run to earn the win.
Madrigal was 3-of-4 with a trio of RBI's in the loss.
Salt Lake 12, Grayson 7: Consistent offense early lifted the Bruins to a victory in the nightcap.
SLCC scored all 12 of its runs in the first three innings, part of posting 13 hits in the win.
Bailey Marvin was 4-of-4 alone, posting 7 RBI's and hitting both a double and a home run.
Chloe Woods went 2-of-3, while
Alyssa Mighell finished going 2-of-4.
Tiffany Hermansen earned the pitching win, throwing a complete game with five strikeouts.
