Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 17, 2023) – The Salt Lake Community College Softball team returned from an extended layoff Friday, playing in a preseason tournament in Texas.

SLCC had a pair of games to open the tournament, part of playing doubleheaders over three consecutive days. The Bruins earned an extra-innings, 16-14 win over Tyler to open Friday's action, then followed up with an 8-0 loss against McLennan. Salt Lake is now 5-2 overall.

The Bruins will continue play Saturday, facing off against Grayson Community College in a doubleheader.Â

Salt Lake 16, Tyler 14: A back-and-forth game that featured 28 hits ended in a win for the Bruins.

Tied at 13-13 entering the tenth inning, SLCC scored three runs to finally earn the win.
Lyndsey Madrigal went 4-of-6 at the plate in the win, finishing with 7 RBI's.
Mikelle Anthony and
Ry Binne both went 3-of-5.Â

McLennan 8, Salt Lake 0: A tired SLCC team struggled at the play in a run-rule loss.Â

SLCC mustered just four hits in the loss, committing three errors. The game was tied until the fourth inning, when McLennan scored a trio of runs to take a lead it would never relinquish.

Anthony went 1-of-2 at the plate in the loss.Â
