Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (Thursday, November 16, 2023) – The No. 4 Bruins came out on top in a battle of unbeaten's, knocking off No. 20 Eastern Florida State College 72-55 to open the Florida Tournament. Salt Lake overcame a season-high 21 turnovers to get the win.
The Titans opened up a six-point first-half lead thanks to an 8-0 run before the first media timeout. Salt Lake battled back to take a 27-24 halftime lead before pulling away down the stretch.
The Bruins bounced back from a difficult first half to shoot 65.4 percent from the field and 44.4 percent from deep as a team in the final 20 minutes. EFSC shot 29.3 percent for the game.
Zaon Collins led SLCC in scoring for the first time this season, finishing with 19 points and team-highs of five assists and four steals.
Jordan Battle struggled from the field but the 6'3 guard made up for it with 12 rebounds and three steals. Xavier Edmonds added 15 points and Bryce Zephir scored a dozen.
Salt Lake wraps up the Florida tournament with a matchup against Florida Southwestern State College (3-1) on Friday, November 17. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. (MT).
