Box Score 3 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 27, 2023) – Warm weather and pleasant conditions greeted the Salt Lake Community College Softball team in their season openers on Friday.

SLCC opened a packed weekend of games in a tournament hosted by the College of Southern Nevada, posting a record of 2-1 with a 17-5 win over Pima Community College, a 16-15 loss to Central Arizona, and a 14-4 victory over Arizona Western. This is the start of a five-game weekend for the Bruins.

Salt Lake will play a doubleheader on Saturday, facing Eastern Arizona and Chandler-Gilbert.Â

Salt Lake 17, Pima 5: The Bruins opened the season with a dominant win.

Alyssa Mighell went 3-of-4 in the game, contributing 4 RBI's.
Miranda Mansfield and
Lyndsey Madrigal also contributed 4 RBI's each. Madrigal showcased her power at the plate, hitting a pair of home runs.

Tiffany Hermansen earned the pitching win, throwing four innings and finishing with four strikeouts.Â

Central Arizona 16, Salt Lake 15: A topsy-turvy game did not go the way of the Bruins.

SLCC and Central Arizona combined for 32 hits in the win, with the Bruins trailing 13-8 entering the top of the sixth inning. From there,
Lyndsey Madrigal hit a three-run home run to start the comeback, which saw SLCC take the lead prior to Central Arizona scoring three runs in the seventh inning.

Madrigal went 3-of-4 at the plate, hitting two home runs in the loss. Â

Salt Lake 14, Arizona Western 4: SLCC closed out the night with a dominant win over Arizona Western.Â
