Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (May 12, 2022) – The Salt Lake Community College Softball team suffered a heartbreaking loss in a Region 18 tournament game Thursday.
 
Playing in a winners' bracket game against top-seed Southern Idaho, the Bruins lost a gutting 4-3, extra-innings decision to the Lady Golden Eagles. The loss drops SLCC to an elimination game Friday, where it will play the winner of a game between Southern Nevada and Snow.
 
It was Salt Lake who scored first, with Allie Laub scoring an unearned run in the second inning to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead. Southern Idaho responded, scoring a pair of runs in the third inning to take a 2-1 lead.
 
Hola Nakayama tied the game in the sixth inning though, hitting a solo home run to tie the game at 2-2. Brooklyn Pintar then gave the Bruins a lead on an RBI single in the seventh inning, a lead they would surrender as CSI posted a run in the bottom of that inning. The Lady Golden Eagles plated the game-winning run in the eighth inning.
 
Avery Takahashi led Salt Lake at the plate, going 2-of-4. Bailey Frischknecht suffered the pitching loss.
 
Salt Lake will play the winner of a Southern Idaho/Southern Nevada matchup at 11:00 a.m.
