TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (May 10, 2022) – The Salt Lake Community College Athletic Department is well positioned for success as it enters the Spring 2022 postseason.
 
No. 11 SLCC Baseball is the top team is this week's Region 18 tournament, with the tournament being hosted at Cate Field. SLCC Softball will head to its Region 18 tournament at the College of Southern Idaho, with the Bruins sitting as the No. 2 seed.

Baseball: After posting a mark of 36-4 in the Scenic West schedule, No. 11 SLCC will play host to all of the Scenic West in this week's Region 18 tournament. 
 
SLCC is the No. 1 seed in the tournament and will face the lowest-seeded team that wins the first round of games on Wednesday. The Bruins only need to win three games to claim the Region 18 title. 
 
Salt Lake will open the tournament on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. The Region 18 championship game will be played Saturday at Cate Field. Tickets are available for the tournament at https://slccbruins.com/sports/2010/3/24/GEN_0324103913.aspx. 
 
Softball: SLCC Softball made a successful run through the second half of the Scenic West schedule, setting up the Bruins with a No. 2 seed in this week's Region 18 tournament.
 
Salt Lake will play the winner of a game between USU Eastern and Colorado Northwestern, with the winner of that game advancing to a semifinal game on Thursday afternoon. If SLCC were to fall in its First Round game, the Bruins will play in an elimination game Thursday morning.
 
Salt Lake coach Cyndee Bennett said her team is ready for the opportunities it has ahead.
 
"I feel really good about regionals," she said. "Even though we are going in as a No. 2 seed, I think we have a great chance to win it."
 
Bennett said SLCC's recent momentum has given her great optimism for the upcoming weekend.
 
"We are pitching, hitting, and playing defense really well right now," she said. "We are peaking at the right time."

The tournament will begin Wednesday, with the Region 18 championship game scheduled for Friday.
