Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 9, 2022) – The Salt Lake Community College Softball team powered to a series sweep over an in-state rival on Saturday.
SLCC earned wins of 8-4 and 15-7 over USU Eastern, moving to 6-2 in the season series against the Eagles. The victories also lift the Bruins to 21-12 overall and 20-9 in Scenic West play, helping Salt Lake inch closer to league leader Southern Idaho.
Salt Lake will travel to play a four-game series at Colorado Northwestern next weekend.
Salt Lake 8, USU Eastern 4: A fast start lifted the Bruins to a victory.
Jayci Finch has an RBI single in the second inning to give the Bruins a lead, followed by
Lyndsey Madrigal adding an RBI double in the third inning. Salt Lake had 14 hits in the win.
Briley Young earned the pitching win for Salt Lake. Finch was 3-of-4 at the plate.
Salt Lake 15, USU Eastern 7: A standout performance by
Alyssa Mighell helped Salt Lake to a run-rule win.
Mighell had a solo home run in the third inning, also posting a pair of doubles and a single.
Trinity Benson also hit a grand-slam home run in the third inning.
SLCC had 16 hits in the game. Mighell was a perfect 4-of-4 at the plate.
