Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 5, 2022) – The No. 4 Salt Lake Community College Softball team played strong in a Saturday doubleheader in a Florida tournament.

SLCC earned a 2-0 record in a Saturday doubleheader, picking up a 12-4 win over Indian River and a 13-2 victory against Miami Dade. The Bruins are now 5-5 overall with the win.

Salt Lake will now take a break, with a scheduled resumption of play on March 4 in a Scenic West Athletic Conference series against in-state rival USU Eastern.Â

Salt Lake 12, Indian River 4: Early-and-often scoring helped boost the Bruins to a strong victory.

SLCC scored a pair of runs in the first inning on an Indian River error, then the Bruins scored five runs in the fifth inning to take control for good. SLCC's
Bailey Marvin also added to the margin with a solo home run in the third inning.

Bailey Frischknecht earned the pitching victory, throwing five innings and finishing with four strikeouts.
Trinity Benson went 2-of-2 at the plate and had a pair of RBI's.Â

Salt Lake 13, Miami Dade 2: A six-run third inning powered the Bruins to a victory.

Allie Laub had an RBI triple in the third inning to key the Bruins, in addition to an RBI double in the first inning and an RBI single in the sixth inning.
Hola Nakayama hit a home run in the third inning also, in addition to an RBI double from
Bailey Marvin.

SLCC finished with 16 total hits, while Laub and Marvin both went 3-of-4 at the plate.
Jayci Finch had the pitching win, throwing six innings and allowing just six hits.Â
