Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 29, 2022) – The No. 4 Salt Lake Community College Softball program playing in mixed fashion during the second day of a preseason tournament Saturday.

SLCC earned a Saturday doubleheader split in a tournament hosted by the College of Southern Nevada, picking up a dominant 16-0 win over South Mountain and a () () over Arizona Western. The Bruins are now 2-3 overall.

Salt Lake will travel next weekend to play in a Florida preseason tournament.

Salt Lake 16, South Mountain 0: The Bruins finished with a run-rule victory, scoring seven runs in the first inning.

SLCC accepted 13 walks in the game, finishing with 9 hits in the contest. As strong as the Bruin offense was, it was Salt Lake pitcher
Bailey Frischknecht who controlled the game from the circle and earned the victory. Frischknecht allowed just three hits while striking out five SMCC batters.Â

Maclee McPhie went 3-of-4 at the plate, with
Lyndsey Madrigal went 3-of-4 with a trio of RBI's.
Alyssa Mighell also had three RBI's.

Arizona Western 9, Salt Lake 8: A slow start doomed the Bruins in a loss to close the 'CSN Kickoff Classic' tourney.

AWC jumped out to a 6-1 lead after the third inning, adding to the advantage in the fourth inning to stretch the lead to 9-1. SLCC made some offensive noise in the bottom of the fourth inning, leading off with
Lyndsey Madrigal hitting a solo home run. The Bruins then added runs with
Josee Haycock hitting a two-run double, followed up by
Hola Nakayama hitting an RBI double that scored Haycock.Â

Haycock went 2-of-4 in the game with a team-high 4 RBI's, while Nakayama was 2-of-3 at the plate.
Jayci Finch had the pitching loss for the Bruins.Â
