Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (May 8, 2021) – The No. 2 Salt Lake Community College softball team will enter next week's Region 18 tournament with plenty of momentum, thanks to completing another Scenic West Athletic Conference series sweep Saturday.

SLCC earned a pair of wins over the College of Southern Nevada, winning by scores of 4-2 and 13-8. The Bruins have finished the regular season with records of 48-2 overall and 38-2 in Scenic West play.

Salt Lake will enter next weekend's Region 18 tournament as the top seed, thanks to winning the Scenic West title.

Salt Lake 4, Southern Nevada 2: A four-run inning boosted Salt Lake to the win.Â

SLCC scored four runs in the fourth inning, thanks to
Rylie Bennett hitting an RBI single to start the offense. Bennett later scored on a
Mackenzy Richins RBI pop-up, while a
Kaytlyn Cripps groundout scored another run.

Hola Nakayama went 2-of-3 at the plate, while
Mercedes Call was 2-of-4.
Nya Laing posted the pitching victories.Â

Mackenzy Richins hit a two-run home run in the first inning to boost the Bruins, who saw Southern Nevada take a temporary lead later in the game.
Brylee Marziale-Hill hit a solo home run in the second inning, with
Rylie Bennett posting a solo-home run in the third inning.
Rylee Harris-Thorpe muscled a solo home run in the fifth inning, with
Bailee Noland hitting a two-run home run in the same frame.Â
