TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (May 13, 2021) – The No. 20 Salt Lake Community College baseball team finished the 2021 regular-season with a flurry of momentum, boosting their way past the College of Southern Nevada to earn the Scenic West Athletic Conference title in the final weekend of the year.
 
SLCC was rewarded for its success in the 2021 season with ample recognition on the All-Region 18 Honors list, with four Salt Lake individuals earning individual success. Salt Lake's Fynn Chester earned 'Pitcher-of-the-Year' honors, while Bruer Webster was named 'Defensive Player-of-the-Year'. Blake Whiting earned 'Relief Pitcher-of-the-Year' for SLCC, while Salt Lake coach DG Nelson was named the 'Coach-of-the-Year' for Region 18. Southern Nevada's Damiano Palmegiani was the Region 18 'Player-of-the-Year'. 
 
Chester finished with an ERA of 3.25, going 8-2 on the mound in the season. He finished with a team-high 66 strikeouts, holding opponents to a batting average of .246. Whiting played a strong role as a relief pitcher for the Bruins, holding an ERA of 1.12 with a trio of saves.
 
Webster led Salt Lake with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, finishing with no errors on the season and helping turn 15 double-plays. Nelson led the Bruins to their first Scenic West crown since 2014, posting his third league title in his career. 

Webster, Travis Johnson and Zachary Blaszak also represented Salt Lake on the All-Defensive Team. Andrew Gregerson and Tate Gambill posted All-Defensive honors for Southern Idaho, while Dylan Sanchez and Dylan Rodriguez posted defensive honors for USU Eastern. Southern Nevada's Jacob Godman was the All-Defensive Team catcher. 
 
The Region 18 tournament will be played throughout the weekend at the College of Southern Nevada's Morse Stadium, with the championship game taking place on Saturday.
