Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 2, 2021) - The No. 1 Salt Lake Community College softball team had its first bump-in-the-road Friday, losing its first game of the 2021 season against a longtime Scenic West Athletic Conference foe.
Salt Lake split its games on Friday with the College of Southern Nevada, falling 11-9 in the first game before responding with a 9-1 win in game two. The Bruins are now 27-1 overall and 17-1 in Scenic West play.
Salt Lake and Southern Nevada will play another doubleheader on Saturday.
Southern Nevada 11, Salt Lake 9: Early CSN scoring boosted the Lady Coyotes to a victory.
Southern Nevada went on a 9-1 scoring run in the first three innings, creating an advantage that was hard for the Bruins to overcome. SLCC came charging back, scoring three runs in the seventh inning, but ultimately couldn't finish the win.Â
Mackenzy Richins and
Brylee Marziale-Hill led Salt Lake at the plate in the game, going 3-of-4 each.Â
Salt Lake 9, Southern Nevada 1: The Bruins responded with a resounding win in game two.
The run-rule win started with SLCC posting five runs in the second inning, mixed with a stellar pitching performance by
Alyssa Millemon. Millemon struck out eight CSN batters in a complete-game win, allowing one run in five innings.
Allie Laub and
Rylie Bennett both went 2-of-2 at the plate to lead Salt Lake.
Savanna Montoya and Richins both hit home runs in the win.Â
