Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 21, 2021) - The No. 6 Salt Lake Community College softball team finished off a clean sweep of a preseason tournament Sunday, finishing its 2021 preseason undefeated.
The Bruins picked up a wins over Scenic West Athletic Conference foes in preseason action, downing host College of Southern Nevada, 19-7, and Colorado Northwestern Community college, 13-1. The wins see Salt Lake finish the preseason with a perfect record of 10-0.
Salt Lake will play next when it opens 2021 conference play, hosting Colorado Northwestern Community College in a four-game series beginning March 5.Â

Hola Nakayama two-run double helped key SLCC's run in the first inning, with Salt Lake's
Savannah Heaton hitting a grand-slam home run in the second inning to help boost the Bruins to a 9-3 lead. Nakayama added to the Salt Lake lead with a two-run home run in the fourth inning.
Nakayama finished a perfect 4-of-4 at the plate, while
Mercedes Call and
Rylie Bennett both went 3-of-3.
Nya Laing pitched the Bruins to a victory, throwing four innings and striking out two CNCC hitters.Â
Salt Lake 13, Colorado Northwestern 1: Another strong offensive performance helped the Bruins add to their collection of run-rule victories in the SWAC preseason tourney.Â
Rylee Harris-Thorpe hit a two-run home run to give Salt Lake early momentum.Â
Mackenzy Richins then hit a two-run home run in the third inning, with the Bruins hitting three extra-base hits to take a 9-0 lead. Richins also hit an RBI triple in the fourth inning.Â
Kaylee Pierce finished 3-of-3, while Richins and Harris-Thorpe finished 2-of-4 at the plate.
Alyssa Millemon and
Brylee Marziale-Hill combined for the pitching win, with Marziale-Hill starting the game.
