No. 5 SLCC Women’s Soccer downed by No. 1 Tyler in NJCAA semifinals

Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 19, 2021) – One of the great seasons in Salt Lake Community College Women's Soccer is unfortunately over.
 
No. 5 SLCC lost in a matchup with No. 1 Tyler in Friday's NJCAA Division-I National Semifinals, falling by a final margin of 1-0 in a rematch of the Spring 2021 NJCAA title match. Salt Lake will close the season with a record of 16-4-1 with the loss.
 
In a match that was competitive throughout, both the Bruins and Tyler Junior College were scoreless at halftime. Tyler broke the tie in the 73rd minute on a Esalenna Galekhutle goal, providing the score that will give Tyler an opportunity to defend its Spring 2021 national title.
 
Salt Lake held a 9-8 edge in total shots, with Kallyn Chynoweth taking a pair of shots-on-goal. Bruins goalkeeper Katrina Gardner made a save in the loss.
 
SLCC finished the season as the Region 18 championship winner, along with earning the NJCAA West District champions.
