Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 29, 2021) - The No. 16 Salt Lake Community College softball team had a dramatic comeback win Friday, downing a Scenic West Athletic Conference rival in non-conference action.
SLCC picked up a 6-5 win over in-state rival Snow College in day two action of the 'CSN Kickoff Classic', scoring three runs in the sixth inning to take a late lead. The win boosts Salt Lake's record to 2-0 on the young season.
Trailing 5-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning,
Rylee Harris-Thorpe turned on a two-run home run to give Salt Lake the game-winning runs. SLCC took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, thanks to a Harris-Thorpe RBI double, but then allowed Snow to score four runs in the second inning to take a lead the Badgers wouldn't surrender until late.
Harris-Thorpe finished 2-of-4 with 3 RBI's to lead SLCC at the plate, with
Savanna Montoya and
Hola Nakayama each scored a pair of runs.
Alyssa Millemon earned the pitching victory, throwing two innings in relief.
The Bruins will play a doubleheader on Saturday, facing off against USU Eastern and Arizona Western.Â
