Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 22, 2021) - The abbreviated 2021 season tipped for the Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team and the Bruins opened in winning fashion.
Salt Lake picked up a 99-53 win over Northwest College in Friday's season opener, turning a 40-30 halftime lead into a rout midway through the second half. SLCC opens the season with a record of 1-0 with the win.
The Bruins shot a sizzling 59.7 percent from the floor, making nine three-point shots to power to the win. Defense also played a strong role as Salt Lake limited Northwest College to 29.2 percent shooting (19-of-65), forcing 24 turnovers. SLCC outscored Northwest by a margin of 59-23 in the second half.
Sam Hofman finished with a game-high 19 points to lead Salt Lake, making 8-of-10 field goals.
James Lee posted 14 points and 8 rebounds, while
Max Watson also finished with 14 points.
Salt Lake will play on Saturday to conclude a home tournament, tipping off at 3:00 p.m. against Layton Christian Post Grad. The game will be played inside the Lifetime Activities Center.Â
