SLCC Men's Basketball signs Maks Klanjscek

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (June 4, 2020) - The Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team has signed another player for the 2020-21 roster.

SLCC coach Kyle Taylor announced that the Bruins have signed a University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) transfer, signing Maks Klanjscek. Klanjscek, who is a native of Slovenia, played one season at UMKC.

Taylor said Klanjscek will provide an immediate boost to the depth of the SLCC roster.

"We have and will always place a high value on shooting and play-making at SLCC," he said. "We're always looking for players who can really shoot the 3 and also make plays for themselves and their teammates off the dribble, and that is what we love about Maks Klanjscek. Maks is a terrific all-around talent who competes on the defensive end and has a great feel for the game as well. Maks's ability to really stretch the defense with his 3pt shooter immediately stood out to us, but he can also put it on the deck and drive and finish or pass. Maks will be a great addition to the Bruins and I can't wait to get him on campus."

Klanjscek appeared in 25 games last season for UMKC, starting in one game. He shot 40-percent from three-point range, averaging three points a game. He has had a noted international career, playing for the U19, U17 and U15 Slovenian national teams.

The UMKC transfer said he is excited to join a program with the prestige of SLCC.

"After my parents and I got to know Coach Taylor and his staff, the decision to come to Salt Lake CC was easy for me," Klanjscek said. "The championship tradition and success on-and-off the court are both something that I can't wait to contribute to. I'm extremely excited to start a new chapter in my career as a Bruin, and help the team win another championship."

Salt Lake finished the 2019-20 season going 29-4 overall, posting a record of 12-0 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play. The Bruins were slotted as the No. 4 overall seed in the NJCAA National Tournament, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
