Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 28, 2020) - The No. 9 Salt Lake Community College softball team opened Scenic West Athletic Conference play with a bang on Friday.
The Bruins earned two run-rule games to open the conference season, downing Colorado Northwestern Community College by scores of 16-3 and 21-7. The wins boost SLCC's overall record to 8-4 and 2-0 in league play.
Salt Lake will play Colorado Northwestern again on Saturday, starting a doubleheader at 12:00 p.m.
Salt Lake 16, CNCC 3: A pair of home runs and a sterling pitching performance lifted the Bruins to a run-rule win in the first game.
Brenna Adams and
Mia Cullimore both hit home runs in an impressive win for Salt Lake, with Cullimore finishing with four RBI's in the game.Â
Salt Lake 21, CNCC 7: A 5-of-6 performance by
Mercedes Call highlighted a breakout performance for Salt Lake.
The Bruins posted six runs in the first inning, taking a lead they would never relinquish.
Nya Laing earned the pitching victory, striking out two runs.Â
