Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 26, 2019) - Thunder and lightning ruled the day throughout the Wasatch Front Friday, causing weather delays at sporting events all across the region.
The No. 7 Salt Lake Community College softball team and Snow College weren't exempt from the delays as rain and treacherous conditions suspended the day's second game till Saturday, with the Bruins holding an 8-1 lead in the fourth inning. Salt Lake earned an 8-0 run-rule victory in the day's first game to move to 37-6 overall and 29-4 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference. The win also officially clinches the Scenic West regular-season title for Salt Lake.
The Bruins and Snow College will return to Norma Carr Field at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday for the conclusion of game two. Games three and four will be played immediately after.
Salt Lake 8, Snow College 0: An early offensive start boosted the Bruins to the run-rule victory.
Tarni Stepto hit a two-run home run in the first inning to give SLCC an early 2-0 lead, followed by
Kim Taylor's solo shot to stretch Salt Lake's lead to 3-0 after the first inning. With Stepto also dealing from the pitching circle, Salt Lake continued its scoring onslaught with a two-run home run by
Mercedes Call in the fifth inning that put the Bruins within striking distance of ending the game early.
Whitnee Alexander struck soon after, hitting a two-run walk-off single to give the Bruins the victory.
Taylor finished the game going 2-of-3 at the plate. Call, Stepto and Alexander all finished with a pair of RBI's. Stepto, the reigning Scenic West Pitcher-of-the-Week, threw five complete innings while allowing just two hits and striking out eight Badgers batters.

Arienn Ackerman's bases-loaded hit gave the Bruins an early 4-1 lead in the first inning, after
Rylee Harris got the Bruins on the board with an RBI single earlier. Harris kept the momentum at the plate going in the second inning, hitting a three-run home run.
Brook Carter pitched the game, allowing one run in the first inning.Â
