Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 14, 2019) - Business continued on Sunday for the No. 10 Salt Lake Community College softball team, thanks to a late-week storm on the Wasatch Front forcing a postponement of Friday's doubleheader against Southern Idaho.
Regardless of the day, SLCC showed why it continues to lead the Scenic West Athletic Conference as the Bruins powered to a doubleheader sweep of the College of Southern Idaho by scores of 4-3 and 5-3. The wins lift Salt Lake's overall record to 32-6 and 24-4 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.
The Bruins will travel to play in-state rival USU Eastern next weekend in Price. The four-game series will begin on Friday with a doubleheader. The teams will also play a doubleheader on Saturday. SLCC will conclude the regular season with two home series.Â

Mallory Barber's RBI double in the fifth inning broke a 3-3 tie and allowed the Bruins to reclaim a lead and power to a victory. It was CSI who opened the game with a 2-0 lead, picking up a pair of runs in the first inning. In a rare rough start for SLCC pitcher
Kierstyn Ketchell, the Bruins turned to their bullpen and
Mia Cullimore picked up the win by allowing just one more run throughout the course of the game.Â
Salt Lake's offense fired up after the pitching settled down and
Whitnee Alexander hit a solo home run in the second inning to cut the deficit to 2-1. The Bruins also posted a pair of runs in the third inning as Barber hit an RBI double and
Tarni Stepto had an RBI single to score Barber. While CSI would tie the game in the fourth inning, Salt Lake responded with the Barber double in the fifth to get the go-ahead run.
Barber and Alexander finished 2-of-3 on the day to lead Salt Lake at the plate. Cullimore's pitching victory featured 4.1 innings of one-run ball that ended in a four-strikeout game.Â

Mia Cullimore threw a complete game victory, spreading eight runs over seven innings while striking out five batters.Â
