Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 8, 2019) - The No. 4 Salt Lake Community College softball team hit a brick-wall in the second weekend of Scenic West Athletic Conference play, getting swept in a Friday doubleheader against the College of Southern Idaho.

After starting the season on a 12-2 run and a 4-0 mark in league play, SLCC was swept 8-5 and 8-7 on Friday by the Golden Eagles. The losses drop Salt Lake to 12-4 and 4-2 in league play. 

SLCC and Southern Idaho will finish the series on Saturday in a doubleheader, with games scheduled for a start time of 12:00 p.m. in Twin Falls.

Southern Idaho 8, Salt Lake 5: The Golden Eagles jumped out early, powering to a strong win.

CSI scored 8 runs in the first two innings, taking a lead they would never relinquish. SLCC got on the board in the third inning, with Tarni Stepto hitting a three-run home run to cut the deficit to 8-4. The Bruins cut the deficit to 8-5 but stranded runners in the 7th inning to fall. 

Southern Idaho 8, Salt Lake 7: A back-and-forth game ended in SLCC narrowly falling late.

The Golden Eagles scored two runs in the first inning while the Bruins stranded two runners. In the second inning, SLCC took its first lead of the series after a Mallory Barber three-run home run. Savanna Montoya followed up with a solo home run to take a 5-2 lead at the inning's end. Paige Reynolds had an RBI double in the third inning, followed up by a Barber home run in the fourth inning. 

Southern Idaho took back a late lead and the Bruins loaded the table in the top of the seventh inning after Stepto and Mia Cullimore got singles. Unfortunately, SLCC wasn't able to convert the win, handing the sweep to CSI.
