TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 27, 2019) - After a successful preseason, the No. 14 Salt Lake Community College softball team is ready to get back to playing.
The Bruins open Scenic West Athletic Conference play this weekend at home, with a four-game series against Colorado Northwestern Community College also serving as the program's home opener at Norma Carr Field. The games will take place on Friday and Saturday.
After starting the season with an 8-2 record that included wins over several nationally-ranked programs, the Bruins are excited to return to their friendly confines of both league play and their home field, according to Salt Lake coach
Cyndee Bennett.
Salt Lake is the second-highest ranked team in the Scenic West after preseason action, with Southern Idaho ranked seventh in the preseason polls. The Bruins had the best preseason record of any team in the league and they have the league's best pitching staff. SLCC is surrendering just a 2.48 ERA, with just 36 runs scored against them. Conversely, Salt Lake is batting .342 as a team.
Friday's games will start at 1:00 p.m. at Norma Carr Field, while Saturday's games will start at 12:00 p.m. The Bruins will play the College of Southern Idaho next weekend.Â
