TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 13, 2019) - The No. 21 Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team is off to a strong start in the 2019-20 season and now the Bruins will continue their search for even-stronger competition.
After a 3-1 start, SLCC will travel to Ephraim to play in a Snow College-hosted tournament throughout the weekend. The Bruins will play a trio of games, starting with a matchup against Central Wyoming on Thursday. Salt Lake will play Eastern Florida State College on Friday and Lamar Community College on Saturday.
SLCC coach
Kyle Taylor said his team is ready for the opportunity to face more quality opponents this preseason.
"I'm looking forward to a great weekend of games down at Snow College," he said. "We play three talented teams this weekend. This past weekend, we battled and competed through two tough opponents and this weekend will be no different. Playing three games in three days, we really need to embrace our depth and take advantage of the fact we have 12 really good players to put on the court."
Central Wyoming is 1-3 to start the season and fell to Snow College in a game last weekend. Eastern Florida State College is also 1-3, with a win over TLAP Prep, while Lamar Community College is 1-3 with a win over Northern Oklahoma College-Enid.
In individual news from the past week, SLCC's
James Lee was recognized with the Scenic West's weekly honors for his play in the Region 9/18 Challenge. Lee averaged 11 points and 5.5 rebounds, including scoring 14 points in a win over Western Nebraska.
Salt Lake will play Central Wyoming at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday and will play Eastern Florida State College at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bruins will play Lamar Community College at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.Â
