No. 5 SLCC Women's Soccer propels towards critical matches

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (October 8, 2019) - The No. 5 Salt Lake Community College women's soccer team is in prime position entering this weekend to achieve the first of their many goals in the 2019 season.

The No. 5 Bruins have put themselves in the position to make even more national noise this week as they host No. 9 Snow College and the College of Southern Nevada, returning home for the first time in almost a month. Salt Lake also is on the cusp of earning another Scenic West regular-season title (more on that in a moment) and potentially earning another top-seed in the Region 18 tournament, which is scheduled for the end of this month.

All-in-all, SLCC has much to be excited about entering this weekend's matches, said Salt Lake coach Mark Davis.

"We have a massive weekend coming up against Southern Nevada and Snow College," he said. "The teams will be ready to compete and we are mostly healthy. We are happy to be back home home and we hope we get a lot of support from the Bruin family."

Currently, Salt Lake has an 8-point lead on USU Eastern and Snow with just two weekends left in the regular season. The Bruins have just a trio of matches left and can clinch the title with a win over Snow or a win and a tie against any other opponent if Snow were to go undefeated. Salt Lake finishes with CSN, Snow and Truckee Meadows.

Snow is the only blemish on Salt Lake's otherwise perfect record in the 2019 season, thanks to a 0-0 tie the pair finished in during a Scenic West match in September. SLCC has otherwise gone through the Scenic West with the power of blowtorch, besting every opponent and entering Thursday's match against Southern Nevada with a four-match winning streak in tow. The Bruins previously bested Southern Nevada by a margin of 5-0 in Henderson.

Salt Lake will host its match against the College of Southern Nevada at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman. The Bruins will also host Snow College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Herriman.
