Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (September 28, 2018) - The No. 16 Salt Lake Community College women's soccer team had to deal with adversity for the first time last weekend.
Prior to last weekend, the Bruins were rolling high, undefeated on the season and improving with every match. SLCC ran into a tough opponent on the road last weekend, earning a loss and a tie against nationally-ranked Snow College. However, instead of continuing that streak, Salt Lake responded with an impressive win Friday, earning a 3-0 victory over the College of Southern Nevada.
Both sides battled back and forth, until Salt Lake's
Baylie Saunders gave the Bruins a lead in the 33rd minute. Salt Lake stayed strong offensively for the rest of the match, with
Dominique Estrada giving the Bruins a 2-0 lead in the 42nd minute.
Madison Schmidt scored a goal late in the match for Salt Lake.
Salt Lake held a 19-2 advantage in shots over Southern Nevada. The win moved SLCC's overall record to 8-1-1, with a record of 3-1-1 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.
The Bruins and Coyotes will play again Saturday, with a match scheduled for 11:00 a.m. The match will take place at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman.Â
