Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 5, 2018) - For a while, it seemed like the No. 4 Salt Lake Community College Bruins could do no wrong in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.
Then the Bruins took to the road to play a nationally-ranked league foe, the College of Southern Idaho Golden Eagles. It was a frustrating afternoon for SLCC as Salt Lake was swept by the Golden Eagles, losing 6-4 and 6-5 in a league doubleheader.
The Bruins will play the College of Southern Idaho in another SWAC doubleheader Friday afternoon.Â
Southern Idaho 6, Salt Lake 4: Two Southern Idaho home runs made the difference as the Golden Eagles climbed to a game one victory over Salt Lake.
CSI took a 1-0 after the bottom of the first inning, with Salt Lake tying the game at 1-1 in the top of the third inning off a
Breah Ava RBI that scored
Ashlee Anderson. However, Southern Idaho retook the lead in the bottom half of the inning, scoring four runs in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach.
Salt Lake scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning but wasn't able to get over the hump. Ava finished the game going 1-of-3 with two RBI's.Â
Southern Idaho 6, Salt Lake 5: A walk-off victory for Southern Idaho powered the Golden Eagles to a 2-0 record in league play.
Tied at 5-5 in the seventh inning, CSI had a walk-off hit to end the game and give Southern Idaho the doubleheader sweep. Salt Lake had tied the game on as
Ashlee Snyder and
Breah Ava hit home runs.Â
Salt Lake held an early 3-0 lead with
Harley Wells pitching. Southern Idaho scored all of their runs after the fourth inning, scoring two runs in the fifth inning and three runs in the sixth inning.Â
