Bruins primed for Southern Nevada series

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 22, 2018) - The Salt Lake Community College Bruins softball program knows that the oft-discussed "go time" is now.

Sitting in second place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference standings behind the College of Southern Idaho, the Bruins have eight games left in the regular season before the Region 18 tournament. Salt Lake is currently at 25-7 in the league standings, good for second place with a nine-game lead over the College of Southern Nevada. It's truly a two-team race for the regular-season title, meaning the stakes will be amplified this Friday with SLCC hosting Southern Nevada in a league series.

Salt Lake is 4-0 on the season against Southern Nevada, with the Bruins sweeping a series in Henderson via four run-rule victories. Salt Lake swept CSN via a combined-run total of 60-4, with the Bruins' Ashlee Snyder hitting several home runs in the series.

The Bruins will host Southern Nevada and Colorado Northwestern in league series to close out the regular season, with the Region 18 tournament starting on Wednesday, May 9, at the regular-season champion's home site.

Southern Idaho, who sits at 26-4 in league standings, will close the season with a road series at USU Eastern and a home series with Southern Nevada.

Salt Lake's four-game series against Southern Nevada will commence with a Friday doubleheader, with first pitch of game one scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Norma Carr Field. The series will conclude with a doubleheader on Saturday.
