TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 12, 2018) - The threat of inclement weather has forced the Salt Lake Community College softball program to get used to the idea of moving a schedule around.
The No. 13 Bruins have had series move to St. George, change days and generally cause havoc on well-established plans, with an unpredicatable spring weather season falling upon the Wasatch Front. A week after moving games against the College of Southern Idaho, Salt Lake is once again seeing the schedule change as games against in-state rival USU Eastern will be played on Saturday and Sunday, compared to the usual Friday-Saturday schedule.
Salt Lake had a setback last weekend after previously running through the Scenic West Athletic Conference. After posting a 17-game winning streak, the Bruins lost 3-of-4 games at Southern Idaho to fall to second place in the league with a record of 19-5. The losses set SLCC at one game behind the Golden Eagles, who are in first place with a league record of 20-4.
This will be the second time this season Salt Lake will have played USU Eastern. The Bruins previously swept a four-game series in March from the Eagles, outscoring USU Eastern 48-19 during the series played in Price. This will be the first series Salt Lake has played at home since hosting Snow College on Mar. 16-17.
SLCC continues to be at-or-near the top in several league categories, starting with team average (.433) and on-base percentage (.504). Bruin infielder
Ashlee Snyder leads the league in slugging percentage (1.158), runs-batted-in (77), and home runs (16).
Saturday's games at Norma Carr Field will start at 1:00 p.m., with game two following the conclusion of game one. Sunday's games will start at 12:00 p.m. Including this weekend, Salt Lake will play three of its last four series at home.Â
