SLCC Softball win streak reaches 16-straight after doubleheader sweep

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 31, 2018) -  Practice hard, play hard, win impressively, repeat.

Those four steps seem to be the cycle the No. 7 Salt Lake Community College Bruin softball program has established over the past month as the Bruins have rolled through the Scenic West Athletic Conference. SLCC swept yet another league series, run-ruling Colorado Northwestern Community College in four-straight games to move to 18-2 in league play and 24-7 overall. The Bruins earned 18-1 and () victories on Saturday against CNCC.

Salt Lake has now won via the run-rule in its last nine games, outscoring opponents 141-9 over that time period. The Bruins have the highest-scoring offense in the league.

Another highlight moment came in the final game of the series as sophomore Ashlee Snyder hit her 34th career home run to become the all-time SLCC leader in homers. The home run came on a grand slam in the day's second game.

The Bruins will travel next weekend to play the College of Southern Idaho in a critical Scenic West Athletic Conference series.

Salt Lake 18, Colorado Northwestern 1: A first-inning grand slam provided the offensive spark that lifted Salt Lake to another impressive performance.

Breah Ava hit a grand slam in the first inning to give Salt Lake a 5-0 lead after the first inning. Now to be outdone, Ashlee Snyder continued her stellar offensive season with another Bruin grand slam in the third inning, followed up by a three-run home run by Laina SueSue that gave SLCC a 14-1 lead. Ava hit another home run to center-field in the fifth inning.

Summer Stensgard started the game for Salt Lake, earning the victory in the circle. She finished with five strikeouts while only surrendering one run, moving to 3-1 on the season.

Salt Lake 14, Colorado Northwestern 0: An Ashlee Snyder grand slam in the second inning cued a strong offensive game for Salt Lake.

With the bases loaded in the second inning, Snyder launched a pitch over the fences, leaving Salt Lake with a dominating lead and the sophomore infielder with 34 career home runs- setting a Bruin all-time record. Snyder tied the career record in the first inning with a three-run home run that gave Salt Lake an early 3-0 lead.

Besides Snyder's shots, the Bruins largely caved up Colorado Northwestern with a balanced offensive attack that featured sharply hit balls. The Bruins scored three runs in the fourth inning off line drives, walks and a Kiara Grover double down the line.

Kierstyn Ketchell started the game for Salt Lake, holding the Spartans scoreless.
