No. 10 SLCC Softball rolls to doubleheader sweep in Vegas

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 23, 2018) - The No. 10 Salt Lake Community College Bruins have found mid-season form just in time.

After a preseason filled with growing pains, the Bruins are sitting on a 10-game winning streak after sweeping a Friday doubleheader against the College of Southern Nevada, winning games by scores of 17-2 and 10-2. The games were moved to CSN's Henderson Campus due to the threat of inclement weather on the Wasatch Front. Salt Lake's wins move their record in the Scenic West Athletic Conference to 11-2.

Salt Lake and Southern Nevada will play two games on Saturday, with the first game starting at 12:00 p.m. PST.

Salt Lake 17, Southern Nevada 2: SLCC opened the game, taking a 16-0 lead on the way to a run-rule victory over Southern Nevada.

An Ashlee Snyder home run in the first inning gave Salt Lake an early lead, a lead that was bolstered by an Ashlee Anderson two-run bomb in the second inning. The Bruins scored seven runs in the third inning.

Snyder finished by going 3-for-3 with 4 runs-batted-in, while Anderson, Sara Bendt and Dayna Hokanson all went 2-for-3. Kiara Glover earned the victory in the circle, throwing for three innings. Kierstyn Ketchell picked up the save for Salt Lake.

Salt Lake 10, Southern Nevada 2: The Bruins picked up right where they left off, earning a big offensive win in game two.

Sara Bendt's RBI single in the first inning gave Salt Lake an early lead, with Southern Nevada scoring two runs in the bottom of the inning to take their first lead of the series. Tied at 2-2 in the top of the fourth inning, the Bruins broke the game open as Bendt had a three-RBI triple to give Salt Lake a commanding 5-2 lead.

SLCC pitcher Harley Wells lifted Salt Lake to the win in the circle and even added an RBI sacrifice fly in the fifth inning.
