Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 2, 2018) - The No. 2 Salt Lake Community College Bruins were dealt some interesting circumstances to start the week.

The Bruins were supposed to host their home opener at Norma Carr Field in Taylorsville; instead, expected rough weather on the Wasatch Front forced Salt Lake to move its Scenic West Athletic Conference series against Southern Idaho to St. George. SLCC took advantage of the circumstances, moving to a 6-5 win in game one in extra innings, with a 9-7 win in game two. The games were played at the Canyons Softball Complex, home of the NJCAA National Tournament.

Salt Lake and Southern Idaho will play a doubleheader on Saturday in St. George. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. 

Salt Lake 6, Southern Idaho 5 (8): The Bruins earned an extra-innings win over Southern Idaho, utilizing a walk-off double to earn a win in the game's eighth inning.

Dayna Hokanson's walk-off double in the eighth inning powered Salt Lake to the win, scoring Summer Stensgard to break a 5-5 tie. The game was back-and-forth for much of the contest, with Salt Lake finally taking a seemingly-strong 4-1 lead entering the seventh inning. However, Southern Idaho scored three runs in the inning, effectively sending the game to extra innings.

Ashlee Snyder had a sacrifice-fly RBI in the sixth inning, with several Bruins contributing in a two-run fifth inning. Salt Lake's Harley Wells closed out the game.

Salt Lake 9, Southern Idaho 7: The Bruins were able to best the Golden Eagles late, prevailing in game two for the doubleheader sweep.
