Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 8, 2018) - The No. 6 Salt Lake Community College Bruins are running out of opportunities to show their arsenal of talents in the regular season.
The Bruins have won nearly every way imaginable, running to a 24-2 overall record and a 7-1 record in the Scenic West Athletic Conference. SLCC begins its final set of league games Saturday at home, coming off a road journey that saw the Bruins play their entire second part of the league season on the road. Entering a road game at Colorado Northwestern Thursday, Salt Lake was striving to finish that stretch with a record of 3-1.
SLCC answered the call when challenged yet again, plowing to a 92-63 road victory over the Spartans. Salt Lake is now 2-0 on the season against CNCC.
The Bruins had a dominating defensive performance in the first half, holding CNCC to just 24.1 percent shooting (7-of-29) as they took a 42-27 halftime lead. Salt Lake forced 19 Spartan turnovers and never trailed in the game. The Bruins led by as many as 38 late in the game.
Hunter Schofield and
Bushmen Ebet both had sterling games for SLCC, with both finishing with 19 points. Schofield was an efficient 8-of-11 from the field.
Kur Kuath added another double-double to his tally this season, finishing with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
"Tonight was a great team effort," SLCC coach
Todd Phillips said. "We had a couple injuries so it was great team effort. Hunter (Schofield) had a great game down low, picking up the scoring slack with Christian (Gray) out."
Salt Lake makes a long-anticipated return to the hardwood inside the Lifetime Activities Center Saturday, with a home game against Snow College looming. The Bruins are 2-0 on the season against the Badgers.
The game is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start, with live stats available at slccbruins.com. The game will stream live at live.ksl.com.
