Bruins fall on road at Casper

Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 9, 2018) - The No. 8 Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team picked up its first loss of the season, falling in an offensive shootout.

The Bruins earned a 107-101 loss over Casper College, with Casper outscoring SLCC 63-59 in the second half. Casper led by as much as 14 points in the second half, with Casper making 36 free-throws in a hotly-contested game.

"Tonight was a hard-fought night where we had a couple chances but came up short," said Bruins coach Todd Phillips. "We struggled from the three-point line but our strong defense kept us in the game."

SLCC trailed 44-42 at halftime, as Casper shot 44.4 percent from the floor (16-of-36). However, the second half was keyed by Casper making 28-of-36 free-throw attempts. 

Salt Lake guard Cameron Mack had a monster game, finishing with 44 games on a 16-of-30 shooting night. Daron Henson was SLCC's other double-digit scorer, finishing with 14 points.

The Bruins will play once against Saturday, facing off against Western Nebraska Community College. Salt Lake will play at home next Tuesday, playing Western Wyoming.
