Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 13, 2018) - The No. 8 Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team is starting to find a groove.
Four games into the preseason, the Bruins are starting to click offensively, scoring points in bunches with a variety of players contributing to the team's success. That success was on display once again Tuesday, with Salt Lake earning an 81-67 victory over Western Wyoming Community College. The win lifts SLCC's record to 3-1 on the young season.
It was Western Wyoming who led early in the game, with WWCC holding a 22-18 lead after a three-point shot from Jaxon Barlow connected with 6:52 left in the first half. However, the Bruins closed the half out on a 17-5 run, punctuated by
Jared Holman's three-point shot that gave Salt Lake its biggest lead of the opening period.
Salt Lake would stretch the lead to as much as 25 points, 67-42, when
Cameron Mack hit a three-point shot midway through the second half. SLCC would control the rest of the way, never leading by less than ten points throughout the remainder of the game.
Josh Colon continued his strong start to the season for the Bruins, finishing with 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting to lead Salt Lake.
Cameron Mack finished with 16 points, including hitting 4-of-7 three-point shots.
The Bruins will return to the court this weekend as they host the annual "Bruin Classic" tourney. Salt Lake will play against Saddleback College on Friday at 6:00 p.m., with a game on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. against Umpqua College.Â
