Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 27, 2018) - The No. 2 Salt Lake Community College Bruins were hoping for a bounce-back Saturday after Friday's season-openers provided mixed results.

Instead, Saturday provided more mixed results as the Bruins provided a runaway offensive performance in game one against Arizona Western, picking up a 14-4 victory, before falling late to Pima Community College in game two, 8-7.

Salt Lake dominated Central Arizona in game one of the doubleheader, getting a ten-run victory that ended in a run-rule. The Bruins scored seven runs in the first inning, aided by Sara Bendt's RBI double that brought freshman Dayna Hokanson home. Salt Lake led 10-2 heading into the four inning, with Bendt providing a key triple in the fourth inning.

Game two against Pima Community College proved to be different early as SLCC trailed 4-1 heading into the third inning. Trailing 7-1 heading into the fifth inning, Salt Lake started an offensive rally that was buoyed by a Summer Stensgard double. Stensgard would provide the game-tying two-RBI single in the top of the seventh inning, with the two teams tied at 7-7. However, Pima scored a run in the home half of the inning, sending Salt Lake to its second one-run loss of the season.

The Bruins will have a break until February 8, as they travel to the southeastern United States to take part in the FPU Classic. Salt Lake will play six games in that tournament. SLCC opens Scenic West Athletic Conference play on Mar. 2 against College of Southern Idaho.
