Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (December 29, 2017) - One night ago, the Salt Lake Community College Bruins had to face adversity for the first time this season as they lost to Mesa Community College.
The Bruins responded, earning an impressive 81-77 win over 15th-ranked Central Florida in a losers' consolation game of the Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout. Salt Lake trailed 38-37 at halftime but posted a strong second half to earn the victory.
SLCCÂ won the game at the free-throw line, making 17 foul shots in the second half compared to Central Florida's 9 free throws. Also hurting Central Florida's cause was the 18 turnovers they committed, with Salt Lake forcing 8 of those turnovers with steals.
Bushmen Ebet led the Bruins with 20 points, while Christian Gray contributed 17 points and 9 rebounds. Kur Kuath helped Salt Lake's cause as well, finishing with 14 points.
The Bruins will play a losers' consolation final on Saturday, facing off against an opponent that is to-be-determined. Salt Lake will open up Scenic West Athletic Conference play on Saturday, Jan. 6, with a game against USU Eastern.Â
