TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 7, 2017) – Starting a season 4-0 can put some spring in any program's step, but for Salt Lake Community College Men's Basketball, the spring from starting 4-0 on the road can make it seem like temperatures are warming instead of falling.
Â
The Bruins went 4-0 on a road trip to Arizona, picking up three wins in a tourney along with another win in a non-affiliated game. Salt Lake's offense scored over 90 points on three different occasions, scoring a high of 103 points in a win over Tohono O'Odham Thursday. SLCC posted an average margin-of-victory of 23 points on the week.
Â
The opening season success left veteran Bruins coach
Todd Phillips with much to be encouraged about in practices this week.
Â
Salt Lake will participate in a road tournament against this weekend, traveling north to play in a tourney hosted by College of Southern Idaho. The Bruins will play two games in the slate, opening Friday with a matchup against Casper College before finishing Saturday with a game against Western Nebraska Community College.
Â
Phillips said the games will help to provide another benchmark of where the program is as the season propels forward.
Â
"We're excited for these tough road games to see what our team is made of," he said.
Â
The Bruins will play in Taylorsville for the first time this season on Thursday, Nov. 16, as Salt Lake hosts Lee College in a game in the Bruin Classic. It will be the first of back-to-back weekends for SLCC hosting tournaments with the annual SLCC Thanksgiving Classic coming the weekend after.
Â
Tickets for the tournaments can be purchased at the SLCC box office or at slccbruins.com.
