Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 10, 2017) - A season after starting a campaign 10-0, the Salt Lake Community College Bruins men's basketball program has gotten halfway to the mark, moving to 5-0 on the season with an impressive win in the opening round of a preseason tourney.
The Bruins defeated Casper College, 111-72, opening the first round of the College of Southern Idaho tourney with an impressive win over the Thunderbirds. The Bruins led by as much as 37 in the game, contrasted to Casper never leading by more than three points at any position of the game.
Salt Lake took a 57-33 lead at halftime, shooting 57.5 percent from the floor while holding Casper to just 35.7 percent shooting. The Thunderbirds also made just 3-of-14 three-point attempts in the half. Shooting wasn't the only statistical category where SLCC dominated, as the Bruins took a 53-39 edge in rebounding. Salt Lake's defense also forced 21 turnovers, from which SLCC scored 29 points.
Kur Kuath led Salt Lake with 24 points, finishing on 9-of-12 shooting. The Bruins had five double-digit scorers, including: Kuath, Bushmen Ebet (16 points), Matt Lindsey (14 points), Josh Colon (12 points) and Nathan Dow (11 points).
The Bruins will finish the two-game tourney in Twin Falls Saturday, playing Western Nebraska at 5:30 p.m.Â
