Salt Lake City, UT—The SLCC baseball team (27-11, 15-5 SWAC) split a pair of home games with Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) rival Western Nevada College (WNC) (26-13, 11-8 SWAC) on Saturday at Cate Field.

The Bruins defeated the Wildcats 6-3 in game one and lost a 7-5 decision to WNC in the day's second contest. The two conference rivals split the eight game regular season series 4-4.

Game 1 Stats: Sophomore pitcher Brady Corless (Spanish Fork, UT) picked up the win in game one with four strikeouts and three runs allowed in four and two thirds innings of work. Sophomore pitcher Jarren Adam (Murray, UT) earned the save with two strikeouts and no runs allowed in two and one third innings on the mound.

Sophomore catcher Colton Barkdull (Erda, UT) was 1-for-3 at the plate with a triple and one run batted in (RBI) and freshman infielder Taylor Snyder (Elk Ridge, UT) was 1-for-4 with a double. Sophomore catcher Zach Willis (Lindon, UT) was 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Game 2 Stats: Sophomore outfielder Zach Watts (West Jordan, UT) was 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk and two runs scored. Freshman utility player Garrett Bushman (Farmington, UT) was 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and one RBI.

Sophomore outfielder Nick Urban (Las Vegas, NV) was 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple, a walk and a run scored and sophomore outfielder Derrick Whitney (South Jordan, UT) was 1-for-3 with a double and one RBI. Freshman infielder Taylor Snyder (Elk Ridge, UT) was 1-for-4 with a solo home run in the losing effort.

Freshman pitcher Chris Bradford (Las Vegas, NV) took the loss with seven hits and six runs, three earned, allowed in three and two thirds innings of work. Freshman pitcher Jared White (Riverton, UT) struck out one WNC batter with one earned run allowed in one inning on the mound and four other SLCC pitchers saw time on the hill in the loss.

The Bruins out-hit the Wildcats 9-8 in game two with each team committing one fielding error in the contest.

Next up for Head Coach DG Nelson and the Bruins is a four game series with SWAC opponent College of Southern Nevada (CSN) (21-14, 8-8 SWAC) beginning on Friday, Apr. 11 at Cate Field on the SLCC Jordan Campus. First pitch for game one on Friday is slated for 1 p.m. with game two beginning 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first match-up.
