St. George, UT—The
No. 16-ranked SLCC Softball team (3-4, 1-1 SWAC) split a pair of games with Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) opponent Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) (1-1, 1-1 SWAC) on Wednesday to open the conference season.
The Bruins topped the Spartans
13-0 in the day's first contest and fell to CNCC
11-9 in game two of the doubleheader. SLCC held CNCC to just one hit in the day's first game, out-hitting the Spartans 12-1. The Bruins fell behind 9-0 in game two before tallying four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to close the cap to 9-4.
CNCC stretched its lead to 11-4 in the top of the seventh inning and a five-run rally in the bottom of the seventh frame came up two runs short for Salt Lake. The Bruins left 13 runners on base in game two with CNCC stranding 11 base runners in the contest.

Paige Reimann (South Jordan, UT) picked up the win and struck out two Spartan batters with one hit allowed in a five-inning, complete game effort.

Baylee Reeves (Brigham City, UT) took the loss in game two with four hits and five first inning runs allowed.
Reimann struck out three Spartan batters with six hits and four runs allowed (three earned) in 3.1 innings of work. Freshman pitcher
Chelsa Baca (Las Vegas, NV) allowed five hits and two runs, both earned, in three full innings in the circle. Freshman pitcher
Courtney Platt (Riverton, UT) had one strikeout in 0.2 innings pitched.

Cyndee Bennett and the Bruins is a doubleheader against CNCC on Thursday, Feb. 6 in St. George, UT. First pitch for game one is slated for Noon and the day's second game will get underway 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first contest.
