SLCC Softball Preps for Neutral-Site Doubleheaders vs. CNCC, North Idaho College in St. George
Bruins set to open 2014 Scenic West Athletic Conference schedule this week
Salt Lake City, UT—The
No. 16-ranked SLCC Softball team (2-3) will open its 2014 Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) schedule with a pair of doubleheaders against Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) (0-0) this Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 5-6 in St. George, UT.
First pitch for game one on both days is slated for Noon, with the second contest beginning 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first game. SLCC won all nine meetings with CNCC last year, outscoring the Spartans 85-9 through the season series.
The Bruins will then play a pair of doubleheaders against SWAC rival North Idaho College (NIC) (0-0) on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6-7 in St. George. First pitch for game one on both days is also slated for Noon with each day's second game starting 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first contest.
SLCC was 8-1 against NIC last season. The Bruins outscored the Cardinals 77-10 through the season series and held NIC scoreless in five of the nine contests.
Bruins by the Numbers: Through five games, the Bruins are scoring an average of five runs per contest while allowing an average of 4.6 runs per outing to the opposition.
The SLCC pitching staff has a combined earned run average (ERA) of 3.67. Freshman pitcher
Paige Reimann (South Jordan, UT) has a win-loss record of 1-0 to start the year with an ERA of 4.22. Freshman pitcher
Baylee Reeves (Brigham City, UT) is the only other Bruin pitcher with a victory thus far, sporting a win-loss mark of 1-1 and an ERA of 4.05. Freshman pitcher
Chelsa Baca (Las Vegas, NV) has the team's lowest ERA at 2.00 and is 0-1 as a starter.

Megan Reed (Pocatello, ID) leads the team in base hits with nine to go with one double and six runs scored thus far. Three of freshman catcher
Riana Splinter's (Las Vegas, NV) seven hits have been home runs. The Silverado High School graduate has a batting average of .467 with two doubles and a team-high nine runs batted in (RBI).

Bailie Nelson (Las Vegas, NV) leads the team in batting average at .625 and has a double, a triple, a home run and five RBI.
*SLCC Baseball has a bye this week and will resume play with a doubleheader @ Yavapai College on 2/12 beginning at Noon.
