Salt Lake City, UT—The
No. 16-ranked SLCC Softball team (12-8, 10-5 SWAC) picked up a pair of victories over rival
No. 9-ranked College of Southern Idaho (CSI) (16-8, 11-5 SWAC) on Saturday at Bruin Softball Field. SLCC won the four game weekend series three games to one.
Game 1 Recap: The Bruins defeated the Golden Eagles
9-2 in game one and out-hit CSI 14-8. The Bruins led 3-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning and scored six runs in the fifth to widen the margin and secure the 9-2 victory. SLCC committed one error in the field and the Golden Eagles were error-free for the contest.
Game 2 Recap: Salt Lake fell behind early 4-0 in game two but used a pair of runs in the second inning to close the gap to 4-2. Four runs for the Golden Eagles in the fourth inning gave CSI an 8-2 lead but the Bruins rallied with six runs in the fifth frame to tie the contest. CSI added a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning and the Bruins answered with four runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth frame to build the 12-10 lead. Salt Lake held CSI scoreless in the seventh and did not need to bat in the seventh for the second straight contest.

Baylee Reeves (Brigham City, UT) earned the win in game one with two strikeouts, one walk, eight hits and two runs (both earned) allowed in a complete game effort.

Bailie Nelson (Las Vegas, NV) was 1-for-3 at the plate with a home run, a walk, a run scored and finished with three runs batted in (RBI). Sophomore infielder
Megan Bradshaw (Orem, UT) was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI.

Chelsa Baca (Las Vegas, NV) picked up the win in game two with three strikeouts, one walk and one hit allowed in 1.1 innings of work.

Megan Reed (Pocatello, ID) was 3-for-5 at the plate with a home run and a pair of two-RBI singles. The Highland (ID) High School graduate finished with seven RBI. Freshman catcher
KyRae Kogianes (Riverton, UT) was 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, three runs scored and three RBI.

Cyndee Bennett and the Bruins is a doubleheader with Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) opponent College of Southern Nevada (13-5, 8-4 SWAC) on Friday, Feb. 28 at Bruin Softball Field with first pitch for game one slated for 1 p.m. Game two will begin 30 minutes following the conclusion of the day's first contest.
