Salt Lake City, UT—The
No. 22-ranked SLCC Men's Basketball team (23-6, 10-4 SWAC) fell to in-state opponent USU-Eastern (20-9, 7-7 SWAC)
78-63 on Thursday night in Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) play at Bruin Arena.
The Bruins trailed by as many as 11 in the first half and were outscored by eight in the second frame to fall to USU-Eastern for the first time this season. SLCC won the regular season series 2-1.
USU-Eastern out-rebounded SLCC 45-36 and the Golden Eagles shot 46.3 percent from the field in the winning effort. SLCC shot 35.1 percent from the field and was 1-for-11 from three point range.

Gary Payton II (Las Vegas, NV) led the team in scoring with 17 points and completed a double-double with 14 rebounds. Freshman forward
Neal Monson (Sandy, UT) finished with 13 points and had four rebounds. Freshman guard
Zerrion Payton (Oakland, CA) added 12 points in the losing effort.

Todd Phillips and the Bruins will close out the regular season with a game against Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) (8-19, 2-12 SWAC) on Saturday, Feb. 22 at Bruin Arena with tipoff slated for 5 p.m. SLCC leads the regular season series with CNCC 2-0.
